A large fire tore through a home on South Monsey Road near Christmas Hill Road in Airmont one Tuesday afternoon, drawing a major emergency response. Flames and heavy smoke poured from the structure, with a large fireball seen blowing out of the roof at the height of the blaze.

Everyone inside was safely evacuated, and no injuries were immediately reported. Difficult conditions inside the home, particularly in the basement, made firefighting efforts more challenging. The fire escalated to a third alarm, with as many as 12 Rockland County fire departments, along with numerous firefighters, law enforcement officers, and EMS personnel, operating at the scene at the height of the response. Crews had the blaze under control after more than two hours of firefighting.

The cause of the fire was not immediately available.
