Do I need to live in the district?: Yes. If you do not live in the Tallman Fire District, we recommend you reach out to the fire department that services your district.
Do I need firefighting experience to join?: No. The department trains every member from the ground up.
What time are training classes held?: Classes are held in the evenings and some weekends at the Rockland County Fire Training Center.
Is there a minimum age?: Junior members may join at 16; active membership begins at 18.
What are the citizenship requirements to join?: You need to be a citizen of the United States.
Do I need a drivers license to join?: You need to pocess a valid NY drivers license.
What is the time commitment?: You are required to attend a percentage of drills on Monday nights, attend outside training as necessary, and respond to calls when you are available.
How are firefighters alerted to calls?: Alerts are sent via a voice paging system and mobile app.
