Firefighters battled a blaze at a Highview Road building being used as a school, which appeared to have started in a second-floor bedroom of the administration building. A 13-year-old girl suffered smoke inhalation and was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern; she and two dogs were the building’s only occupants when the fire was reported shortly after 2 p.m. More than 100 young students, who had been on the property at the time, were moved safely off site before firefighters arrived.
At least three fire departments — Tallman, Monsey, and Suffern — responded to the scene.
