The Tallman Fire Department responded to a fully involved tractor trailer fire on the New York State Thruway southbound. The trailer was filled with rolls of paper. Tallman firefighters, assisted by Hillburn firefighters, were on scene for 2 hours and 15 minutes. Heavy use of foam was used to extinguish the blaze.

The tractor trailer collapsed in the middle from the intense heat. Firefighters were forced to cut several holes in the sides of the trailer to extinguish fire that spread through parts of the interior that could not be reached due to the densely packed rolls of paper.
