Tallman assisted the Monsey Fire Department at a fire that heavily damaged a townhouse on Park Lane, making it uninhabitable. Dozens of firefighters kept the flames from spreading to the attached row houses nearby.
Investigators later determined the fire broke out in an unpermitted basement business, and the property’s certificate of occupancy was revoked. The Ramapo Fire Inspector noted that operating a business out of a residential building is not permitted, and that a second unpermitted business was also found in the basement of an adjoining unit. Ramapo issued the property owner violation notices for an unsafe structure and improper use.
