The Tallman Fire Department responded to a record number of calls in a 36-hour period during Hurricane Sandy. Firefighters responded to 101 calls. Our members worked through the entire storm and its aftermath.
The total number of hours that our volunteers worked during this storm was an astounding combined total of over 29,000 man-hours.
Members were in constant response mode, with multiple trucks simultaneously responding during the storm. The Tallman firehouse operated under emergency generator power during the storm and initiated pre-planned emergency response procedures.
We are all taking well-deserved rests, but continue to respond 24/7 to our neighbors’ calls for help.
