An Oxford Drive home in Montebello was damaged when a fire broke out in the attic, according to Ramapo police. The blaze, which began around 6:15 p.m., forced a family from their home but caused no injuries.
Tallman firefighters were aided at the scene by volunteers from the Sloatsburg, Suffern, Spring Valley, and Mahwah, NJ fire departments, with Hillburn and Hillcrest held on standby. Ramapo Valley Ambulance also responded. Village fire and building inspectors believed the fire was caused by an electrical problem near a chimney in the home’s attic.
