A section of Cherry Lane in Airmont was closed one Friday morning after a fallen tree brought down power lines, leaving live wires across the roadway. Officers were called to the scene near Annette Lane around 11:30 a.m., with the closure running between Route 59 and Blossom Road.
The falling tree also snapped an electrical pole in half and sparked a small blaze. Tallman, Suffern, and Monsey fire departments responded to the scene along with Ramapo Police to secure the area and address the hazard. There was no immediate word on injuries, and officials said the roadway would remain closed until crews could safely clear the tree and repair the damaged lines.
The incident came as a storm moved through the Hudson Valley that day, leaving many without power.
